Nurturing and Lifting Rocks

Jack Welch – the legendary CEO of General Electric – describes the challenges of being a new leader very well when he said:

"Before you are a leader, success is all about growing yourself. When you become a leader, success is all about growing others." - Jack Welch

Today, where emerging technologies are automating everything, workplace diversity is increasing, and change is the only certainty, new leaders developing the skills of growing others through #Leading and #Managing them has become more important than ever.

Why?

Because the success of a team lies in unique personalities collaborating together to deliver outstanding results.

How can we manage the variety of personalities in our teams to ensure that motivation is high and desirable outcomes are achieved?

We would love to hear how you inspire your teams. Please comment below.

The first and most crucial step in creating a winning team culture that can deliver time-and-again even in challenging circumstances. Great teams correctly assess their different personalities and then adjust management styles to #Lead, communicate, and motivate accordingly.

Note that only by accurately identifying the different personality types of individuals can you lead them effectively.

How can we quickly and efficiently recognize the personalities on our teams?

Our answer is through Rock, Paper, Scissors (RPS) – an agile tool based on rapid personality profiling that helps mobilize people without delay.

RPS is based on the fact that each of us has a personality which is predominantly geared towards one of three types: Rock, Papers, and Scissors.

Let’s delve deep into one of the personality types: The Rock.

Rock’s are individuals who epitomize conviction as well as persistence and are seen as guarded or closed.

If you’ve ever met a person with a high level of determination, it’s more than likely that person is a Rock. When Rocks are convinced something should happen in a certain way, they’ll move mountains to reach it. You probably have such individuals in your team – the ones who are more than capable of achieving positive outcomes – but perhaps willing to break down walls and relationships to achieve them.

Another characteristic of Rocks that helps them stand out it that they find it incredibly hard to be flexible about things. They are by nature closed and hence, find it difficult to express why they feel so strongly about completing a task in a certain way. However, their unwavering resolve enables them to achieve great things against the odds, and they’re also natural leaders, especially in difficult and/or complicated situations. Plus, they can be counted on to deliver time and again.

Do you know any people that fit the description of Rocks?

Let us know what you think is the best way of collaborating with Rocks in the comments section.
